Inside Crystal River, Issue #87
October 27, 2026

Good morning, Crystal River, and happy Tuesday! It's a mostly sunny day with a high of 83 and a low of 63, and there's a slim chance of showers Thursday and Saturday. Today is also National Civics Day, so here's a question: when did you last watch a county commission vote or a city council meeting?

In the news, Citrus County commissioners voted 4-1 on Monday to let CoreCivic negotiate an agreement with ICE to house as many as 119 immigration detainees. Crystal River's next city manager, Troy Slattery, could earn $120,000 a year under a proposed three-year contract. Lecanto's girls won the Bishop McLaughlin Cross Country Invitational, and the Panthers swimmers and divers head to the Region 3A-1 Championships today.

Looking ahead, Books & Babies brings Halloween stories and a costume parade to Homosassa Public Library this morning, and Wednesday has two Trunk or Treats, one at Texas Roadhouse in Lecanto and the first-ever CCSO event in Inverness. Trivia is at Bree's Riverside tonight, with an Open Music Jam Wednesday and Karaoke Thursday, and the Scarecrow Festival is Saturday. No food trucks or restaurant specials are listed, so reply and tell us your favorites. Have a spook-tacular day!

Episodes feature Olivia Munn on the test she says to take even if your mammogram is clear, sex educator Ericka Hart on reclaiming her body after breast cancer, and a Beverly Hills surgeon on why GLP-1s are driving a surge in breast lifts.
