September 13, 2026

Crystal River's City Council will decide Monday whether to accept $1.2 million in federal grant money toward building the city's second operating water well. County commissioners have already given the green light to major new commercial growth along State Road 44, clearing the way for up to 358,600 square feet of new shops and offices.

Elsewhere in the county, Citrus County School District administrative secretary Diedra Newton is wrapping up a 30-year career, and Crystal River State Parks welcomed two new AmeriCorps members to its preserve team.

If you're heading out today, Brynn's Bytes food truck is parked at the Low Key Hideaway and three spots around town have live music, including Crystal Vision at Peck's Old Port Cove. Scroll down for the full lineup, plus this week's poll.
